PURAN CHAND SHARMA
A coalition Govt. or cabinet is a Govt. where political parties enter a power sharing arrangement of the executive. Coalition Govt., usually occur where no single party has achieved an absolute majority after an election. Absolutely there is no problem in there being a coalition Government in the centre if it is evenly balanced, well coordinated, perfectly stable and above all, National Interest and overall welfare of the masses irrespective of caste, creed and colour lies in the centre stage. However, it is a unique and baffling outcome of the just held parliamentary elections wherein despite all out efforts of P.M. MODI , execution of host of long pending important works of greater national significance such as revocation of Article 370 for complete integration of J&K into union of India, as well as expediting the construction of Ram Janam Bhoomi Temple at Ayodhya , Accomplishment of numerous developmental projects , Commendable diplomacy, bolstering the national prestige on global scale , innumerable welfare schemes for poverty stricken masses, catapulting national economy to 5th spot plus numerous other outstanding strides in International relations. However, despite all these scintillating achievements and good will of Majority Modi Govt, P.M had to suffer unexpected and undesirable reversion when the nation was emerging as stronger and powerful day by day under his dynamic and statesman like leadership. The author intends to script this Article to examine and briefly analyse the prevailing political scenario , poll strategy of BJP, Quality of campaign, public mood and the role of BJP work force and ground level workers. By virtue of this write up, Author would focus on as to how and why , the things have gone astray and what corrective measures can be initiated to be back on rails for achieving the cherished pinnacle of glory and the global piece.
*FIRST and foremost soothing and commendable development is that MODI is comfortably back as P.M as unanimous choice with full throttled support of NDA constituents.
*From majority Govt for continuous two successful terms i.e 2014 to march ,2024 , Modi’s BJP PARTY failed to touch majority mark of 272 and remained stuck at 240 , stunningly 32 short of the absolute majority and had bank upon allies to stitch a coalition government with the support of MPS of their wily pre poll alliance partners. For the time being circumstances appear to be well under control. Hopefully MODI would steer through the muddy waters of coalition Govt because of his sharp diplomatic skills and political wisdom but ,of course it is huge challenge. Earlier ATAL BIHARI BAJPAYEE for one term and Dr. Manmohan singh for successive two terms have run hassle free coalition Govt but they had different basic nature, temperament and approach. However, Modi is a maverick politician , he would nicely handle the alliance partners of different ideologies. Certainly he would script and add a new chapter in the History of Indian Parliamentary democracy. It would have been an added advantage to the Nation swiftly heading towards attaining the status of a Developed nation in the world, if MODI was in command with required majority of his own but still there is a silver lining that he would lead the NDA Govt with remarkable success.
*MAJOR FACTORS which silently affected and deluded the Majority mark:- 1. OVERCONFIDENCE: Confidence is most essential ingredient of success but over confidence definitely plays spoil sport most of the times. The incumbent Ruling Party, in their euphoria were overly convinced that they are well poised to hand out a crushing defeat to feeble opposition. However, basic ground work grossly missed in the whole process.
*LESSER FOCUS ON MIDDLE BUSINESS AND WORKING CLASS:- In the overall ecosystem of our political horizon , this common idea and general impression was predominantly revolving amongst the major chunk of Indian society that Govt headed by MODI was unjustifiably extending freebies and financial support to the poverty stricken people in the country. It is bounden duty of the Govt to help the poor but at the same time authorities that be must make all out efforts to plug the leakage and the misappropriation. Instead make them skilled to earn their food at least. Thoughtless freebies make the Nation weak knead, not only insensitive but irresponsible as well.
*DIVISIVE AND VIRULENNT CAMPAIGN:- It will not be something weird to say that in a democratic set up ELECTION is only a process or system to elect a new Govt to provide the best of governance and never to divide the society on caste and communal lines for settling their petty scores at the cost of national interest. But this election openly exposed the major players such as stalwarts from RULING NDA ALLIANCE and INDIA ALLIANCE in the Opposition. They were more focussed on personalised campaign laced with allegations, counter allegations and invectives as well but lesser focussed on their most significant basic requirement of SOLID PUBLIC CONNECT to redress their short term and long term issues.
* ABSENCE OF QUALITY GOVERNANCE AT STATE LEVEL:-Freebies apart , in the assessment of the common masses , the performance of state units has not been up to the mark resulting into fall in their vote share and the seats, it needs be minutely looked into and rebooted.
*CORRUPTION:- Corrupt practices have not been suitably dented and enfeebled but allowed to continue with equal vigour. Bungling in NEET EXAM and PAPER LEAKAGE have sullied the idea of good governance.
* ELECTORAL CAMPAIGN in this election mainly centred around INCUMBENT PRIME MINISTER instead of party as a whole and the ideology of the party with its future vision which did not click amongst the enlightened electorates.
* PARTY PRESIDENT’S grossly inappropriate and undesirable remarks on RSS, the parental organization in the peak hours proved to be detrimental to the interests of the party.
CONCLUSION
Taking a rational view of the emerging situation and the allied challenges it is soothing to observe that despite being short of majority NARENDER MODI , the visionary leader has been appointed as Prime Minister once again. Hopefully learning from the rich experience of past two terms , Prime Minister would focus on ensuring healthy dialogue with the opposition and meaningful debates in the parliament sans intentional protests and walk outs.
